Setting: June, 1913

It is the first Saturday in June and the cream of British society have flocked to Epsom Downs Racecourse, in Surrey, for the eagerly anticipated Epsom Derby of 1913. Although the race itself proves to be an ill-fated event, a murderous act ensures that the day is remembered as the darkest and most dramatic day, in the long history of the racetrack. When the corpse of Archibald Moncrieffe, Viscount Epsom, is found in his Chairman’s Office, a murder investigation grinds into action, to discover which of the Derby’s illustrious attendees is responsbile for having struck Viscount Epsom across the head, with a heavy paperweight.
