It is 1935 and members of Manhattan’s high society are gathering together, at the Metropolitan Opera House, for the premiere of a lavish new production of Verdi’s masterpiece, La Traviata. As New York’s fashionable socialites take their seats in the monumental auditorium, a piercing scream is heard from backstage. It is soon announced that the opera’s prima donna, Miss Eva St. Clair, has fallen forty feet to her death, from the catwalks above the stage. A murder investigation begins to determine if Miss St. Clair’s fall was accidental or if was she was pushed.
